April 2021 marks two years since the tragic, untimely passing of Rollo, Blowhard\u2019s founder and vocalist. Blowhard and close friend top-flight Brisbane\u00a0alternative acts will assemble on Saturday 17 April at The Tivoli to honour the Great Man\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n
That Rollo led Blowhard for 30 years is a momentous achievement, given his and the band\u2019s collective history in other punk\/alternative outfits.\u00a0Blowhard was also the third ever Brisbane punk band (after The Saints and The Onyas) to tour overseas.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Rollo\u2019s activities as a concert promoter, Splurt record label champ, 4ZZZ radio personality, and an all-round ceaseless supporter of the\u00a0local DIY music world, truly cement his legacy across the Brisbane music scene and beyond. The likes of Custard, Powderfinger and members of\u00a0Regurgitator all played early shows at Rollo-driven events, as did many an up-and-coming interstate band. During his guest-spot with the remaining\u00a0Blowhard members at 2019\u2019s Dead of Winter Festival, Frenzal Rhomb\u2019s Jay Whalley fittingly paid tribute to Rollo\u2019s early help in establishing Frenzal\u2019s\u00a0profile.<\/p>\n
BLOWHARD will come together with special guest vocalists for one final performance as tribute to Rollo on Saturday April 17 at The Tivoli, with any\u00a0profits going to family and 4ZZZ. Along with Blowhard the night will be loaded high with a mighty selection of special friends – a who\u2019s-who of\u00a0homegrown alternative music: Emma Bosworth, Strange Stains, Fred Band, Flangipanis, Shandy and FAT. Commencing at 5:00pm – a full plate of\u00a0seven supercharged performances celebrating the life and times of the big one: ROLLO.<\/p>\n
